IN THE SHADOW OF THE OAK MOON

Moonlight 51 – from Colette Baron-Reid’s “The Enchanted Map Oracle Cards”  www.colettebaronreid.com

As the Moon leaves her last quarter, she will begin her waning crescent.  In the shadow of the Oak Moon, we are tying up loose ends and entering a period of release, reflection, quiet time.  The waning Oak Moon offers us the gift of strength.  The Oak tree in Celtic mythology is sometimes referred to as “The Tree of Doors” and “The World Tree”, a symbol of strength and protection.  As we enter this liminal place between the worlds, it is a perfect time for releasing the energies of 2011 and opening the door for 2012.

THE HALF MOON SHOWS A FACE OF PLAINTIVE SWEETNESS                – Christina Rossetti

The half moon shows a face of plaintive sweetness
Ready and poised to wax or wane;
A fire of pale desire in incompleteness,
Tending to pleasure or to pain:-
Lo, while we gaze she rolleth on in fleetness
To perfect loss or perfect gain.
Half bitterness we know, we know half sweetness;
This world is all on wax, on wane:
When shall completeness round time’s incompleteness,
Fulfilling joy, fulfilling pain?-
Lo, while we ask, life rolleth on in fleetness
To finished loss or finished gain.

Blessings of the Oak Moon,                                                                                                          Maggie
