“It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.” Maud Hart Lovelace
June is the month of love, roses blooming, strawberry festivals, anticipating the return of the hummingbirds, butterflies, dragonflies or sewing beetles as our grandmothers would call them, bees making honey and the enchanting fireflies at night. We celebrate the return of Summer and the grand party on Mid-Summer Night’s Eve. Magic is in the air as summertime parties begin, seashore visits, cozying up with good books, picnics, barbecues, and holiday travel. We tend to our gardens whether they are small or large and give thanks to the plant Devas “angels, great Beings whose lives infuse and create all of Nature.” – Dorothy Maclean
The book I love for June, “The Blue Tail” by Kim Antieau – “Old Mermaid Sanctuaries are places where beauty, love, and magic still hold sway, where old is beautiful and young is becoming…..My mother loved those stories. She told them to me as I was growing up.”
You can find Kim’s and her husband Mario Milosevic’s books here along with information for their Old Mermaids Sanctuary – The Wayward Arts Retreat for dreamers, artists and a place for quiet time or to recharge and renew your spirit in the magic of the Sonoran desert.
