“The Shining”

The Wizards Tarot: Author, Corrine Kenner and Artist, John Blumen  http://wizardstarot.com/.

I just received the Wizards Tarot deck, this week and started working with them straight away.  I pulled two cards, the Queen of Wands and Page of Pentacles   This week, during one of my reading sessions, the Wizards Tarot was the deck the client selected to use for their reading!

The first thing I noticed about this deck is the strong energy in the cards.  I could literally feel the earthiness in the Page and fire in the Queen. The words and feelings that came up were grounded, burning inspiration.  These elements, fire and earth, both support and protect each other.

The Page, this messenger of earth, appears to be ready to start out on her journey taking the message of the Queen’s inspiration, but momentarily glances back looking for reassurance, remembering the lessons of the Queen.  The Queen has a protective gaze on the young Page; she appears to glow. They both are able to communicate without words.

This Queen and Page reminded me of Stanley Kubrick’s movie “The Shining” and the relationship that Hallorann and Danny shared with each other.  Hallorann to Danny:  “I can remember when I was a little boy.  My grandmother and I could hold conversations entirely without ever opening our mouths. She called it ‘shining’.  And for a long time, I thought it was just the two of us that had the shine to us. Just like you probably thought you was the only one. But there are other folks, though mostly they don’t know it, or don’t believe it.”

Many of us share that feeling with people, animals, plants, and elements in nature.  My father and I had the “shine” to us.   We both were quiet and shy and I believed we felt this was a natural way for us to communicate.  What about Tarot?  That’s one of the first things I noticed when I started working with the cards years ago; the conversation and sometimes physical sensation, that connection that happens.   I think many readers and clients feel a similar relationship between the cards.  Some decks, some cards, seem to “shine” when we work with them.   What makes you “shine” in your life today?

Bright Blessings,

Maggie

“If you look deep within, you will find a brilliant light.  Too many, far too many, squint and turn away from the shine.  Let your eyes adjust, and bathe in the radiance.”  Unknown
